A bad real estate decision can grind to a halt the cogs of any business. People fail to notice the impact of real estate decisions because real estate is not flashy. Revenue side programs will always capture more attention and focus. These programs typically include new marketing, sales and product development initiatives. The succesful impact of these programs can be easily quantified. Succeed here and you are going places. No one ever gets a promotion for negotiating a great real estate transaction.
That being said, it is imperative that businesses fully evaluate, and build a business case each time a real estate decision is made. An incorrect decision will dillute and erode shareholder returns for years.
